7 Best WordPress Review Plugins 2021

Looking for the best WordPress review plugin to enhance product reviews on your website and/or display reviews from your website’s visitors or customers?

In this post, we’ve collected the best WordPress review plugins for multiple use cases. Some of these plugins help you improve your own product reviews with features like the following:

  • Adding a nice review summary box to the beginning or end of your reviews.
  • Getting you those eye-catching star ratings in Google (aka rich snippets) to improve your SEO rankings.

If your site is 100% about reviews, you might also be interested in our list of dedicated WordPress review themes.

Other plugins on this list help you collect reviews from your visitors or customers, including dedicated review options for WooCommerce stores or regular businesses looking to collect business reviews.

For each plugin, I’ll share:

  • Key features
  • What the review box/features looks like
  • Pricing information

Let’s dig into the plugins.

1. WP Review Pro

WP Review Pro

WP Review Pro is a popular review plugin from MyThemeShop. It comes in both a limited free version at WordPress.org, as well as a premium version with a lot more functionality.

I’ll mainly focus on the premium plugin — but you can always give it a test drive at WordPress.org if you want to try before you buy.

Key Features

First off, WP Review Pro helps you display important review details in a box that shows up before, after, or inside your content. The plugin comes with 16 pre-built templates for how these review boxes can look, along with style options to further customize them.

You can choose from different rating systems, including:

  • Star
  • Point
  • Percentage
  • Circle
  • Thumbs

Your review box includes schema markup to help you get the star ratings in Google search results (rich snippets).

Then, WP Review Pro also helps you display reviews from other people in a few different ways. First, you can let other people review a product on the front-end of your WordPress site by letting users:

  • Rate features
  • Leave a comment on the review
  • Mark other people’s comments as helpful or not helpful (kind of like how product reviews on Amazon work)

Then, WP Review Pro can also help you display third-party online reviews from other review websites, including:

  • Yelp
  • Google Places
  • Facebook

For example, you can easily embed real Facebook reviews, which is a great way of adding social proof to your review website.

Other helpful features include:

  • Create product comparison tables to compare the features of different products (great for affiliate and eCommerce sites)
  • Promote reviews with a popup or notification bar
  • 10 custom widgets to help you display product reviews in any widget area
  • Use the WooCommerce integration to replace the default WooCommerce review forms

On a side note, while WP Review Pro is mainly focused on reviews, it can actually help you add schema markup to get 14 different types of rich snippets. So don’t think of it as just a plugin to help you add product reviews to your website. You can also review recipes, places, and a whole lot more.

What the Review Box Looks Like

Again, WP Review Pro comes with 16 pre-built templates, so there’s no single look. Here’s what the default review box template looks like (you can also see some of the widgets on the side):

WP Review Pro example

And here’s what the Facebook-inspired review template looks like with thumb ratings:

Price

Again, there’s a free plugin with limited functionality at WordPress.org that’s fine for simple reviews. But if you want access to all the templates and functionality (including all of the user review features), you’ll definitely want the Pro version.

The premium plugin costs $67 for a single site license and ranges up to $97 for an unlimited site license.

2. Site Reviews

Site Reviews WordPress plugin

Site Reviews is a simple plugin that lets your site’s visitors submit a 1-5 star rating on your website. You can then take these reviews and display them in a variety of different formats, including schema markup for Google rich snippets.

You can let people rank your website as a singular entity. Or, you can assign reviews to specific posts, pages, products, etc. For example, if you write your own review about a certain product, you could use Site Reviews to let people submit their own review ratings.

To add the front-end review forms, you can use dedicated editor blocks or shortcodes. You can also use blocks or shortcodes to display your forms.

Key Features

  • Three dedicated blocks/shortcodes – submit review form, display latest reviews, and display review rating summary.
  • Option to manually approve reviews before they appear.
  • Respond publicly to reviews.
  • Assign reviews to certain posts, pages, products, or other custom post types.
  • Assign reviews to users on your site (great for service provider directories or other membership communities).
  • Structured data/schema markup for rich snippets.
  • Customize the review form (premium).
  • Add options to sort, filter, and search reviews (premium).
  • Let users attach images to your reviews (premium).

What The Review Box Looks Like

Here’s an example of a page that displays all three blocks – the review form block at the top, the review summary block in the middle, and the full review list at the bottom, including a response.

Site Reviews will automatically adopt the styling of your theme – below, you can see it pulling styling from one of the Sydney theme’s demo sites:

And here’s what it looks like to manage a review on the backend:

Pricing

The core Site Reviews plugin is available for free at WordPress.org.

To add more features, there are some optional paid add-ons for review forms, review filters, and review images. These add-ons cost €29 each or you can get a bundle of all add-ons for $89…which is a bit of an odd price because you’re not actually saving money. But one advantage of going with the bundle is that you’ll also get access to all of the future add-ons at no extra cost.

3. Customer Reviews for WooCommerce

Customer Reviews for WooCommerce plugin

As the name suggests, Customer Reviews for WooCommerce is a review plugin specifically built for WooCommerce stores. So if you want to add a review box for your own product reviews, this isn’t a good option.

But if you have a WooCommerce store and you want to attract more reviews from your customers and display those reviews in a way to boost social proof, then this one is definitely a great option to consider.

Key Features

Customer Reviews for WooCommerce has two high-level features:

  1. It helps you get more reviews from your customers with lots of different features – more on those below.
  2. It helps you better use your reviews as social proof, which can help you get more sales.

Let’s break down the specific features by category.

To help you get more reviews, Customer Reviews for WooCommerce offers the following:

  • One-page review form that lets shoppers review multiple products from a single form.
  • Review reminder/invitation emails. You can customize how long to wait and include dynamic information in the email template.
  • Option to offer discounts in exchange for reviews. For example, “Review your order and get 10% off your next order”. Includes an option to automatically generate unique coupons.

To help you use your reviews more effectively, Customer Reviews for WooCommerce also offers the following features:

  • Option to let people attach pictures to reviews.
  • Question and answer feature (like the questions and answers at Amazon).
  • Show a review summary bar on single product pages.
  • Let shoppers filter reviews by ratings and vote on the most useful reviews.
  • Trust badges to show verified reviews.

What The Review Box Looks Like

There’s no review box, so to speak. But I can give you a look at how Customer Reviews for WooCommerce changes the review interface on the single product page.

Here’s an image from the developer that showcases a lot of the different features in one image:

Customer Reviews for WooCommerce plugin example

You can also find a lot of helpful interface pictures in the screenshots section of the WordPress.org listing.

Pricing

The core Customer Reviews for WooCommerce plugin is available for free at WordPress.org. However, you will need to register for a free account to use the free version, which will get you a license key that you can use to activate the free features.

There’s also a Pro version that costs $49.99 per year or $7.99 per month.

4. Ultimate Reviewer

Ultimate Reviewer

Ultimate Reviewer is a premium WordPress review plugin at CodeCanyon. It comes from an Envato Power Elite Author who has created WordPress themes with thousands of sales.

One of the unique things about this plugin is that you can build your own custom review templates using the plugin’s integration with the Elementor and WPBakery Page Builder plugins. Or, you can also choose from a range of pre-made templates.

Key Features

Like WP Review Pro, Ultimate Reviewer helps you both display your own reviews and also collect/display user reviews. It will also help you add schema markup to get the Google review rich snippets.

When you create your own review, you’ll get an admin meta box that lets you input the various ratings, summaries, pros/cons, etc.

Then, you can also customize the user review template, such as choosing which criteria users can rate and whether or not to let other users vote reviews up or down (again, this is like Amazon’s “Helpful” functionality).

Ultimate Reviewer can also help you create product comparison tables to compare different products.

Beyond that, you get widgets to help you display reviews.

What the Review Box Looks Like

As I mentioned above, Ultimate Reviewer works with both Elementor and WPBakery Page Builder to help you build your own custom review templates.

However, it also comes with its own pre-built templates. Here are two examples of the pre-built templates.

First, there’s the simple bar graph/star-rating template:

For a more unique look, there’s also this template with a nice pros/cons section:

5. Taqyeem

Taqyeem

Taqyeem is one of the most popular WordPress review plugins at CodeCanyon, where it’s been purchased over 1,800 times. Google tells me that “Taqyeem” means “valuation” in Arabic, in case you’re wondering where the name comes from.

Like the others, you can use Taqyeem to create your own review box, as well as accept product reviews from others.

Key Features

To start, Taqyeem lets you add review boxes with unlimited review criteria. You can also choose from three different review styles:

  • Stars
  • Points
  • Percentages

Taqyeem will also add schema markup to help you get rich snippets in Google.

And if you want, you can open things up to your users and let them rate products, as well.

Taqyeem does not let you add a button to your review boxes in the core plugin. But you can purchase a separate Buttons add-on that lets you do that.

What the Review Box Looks Like

Taqyeem comes with advanced customization features. You get unlimited colors and full control over your review criteria so that you can change up how your review boxes look. But here are some examples of what it looks like out of the box.

One option is this in-content box:

And another option is to use a widget to put your review box in the sidebar like this:

Price

Taqyeem costs $29 with standard Envato licensing. The separate Buttons addon costs $19 on top of that.

It can help you insert both review boxes and comparison tables into your posts, pages, and custom post types, as well as giving you the option to accept user reviews.

Key Features

Reviewer helps you create your own review boxes, complete with:

  • Unlimited rating criteria
  • Pros/cons
  • Review summary
  • Overall rating
  • Images
  • Custom links
  • Etc.

You can customize fonts, colors, star icons, and more. Plus, you can use shortcodes to add review boxes, tables, review lists, and single user reviews to your WordPress website. The plugin will also add the schema markup that will let you get rich snippets on SERPs (search engine results pages).

If you want, you can also let users leave their own reviews/ratings in the comments and incorporate those ratings into your review box.

Beyond that, Reviewer can also help you create product comparison tables and also comes with pre-made widgets for both your own reviews and user reviews.

What’s the Best WordPress Review Plugin?

Now for the big question — which one of those review plugins is right for you?

Well, that depends on what type of review functionality you’re looking for.

Let’s start with recommendations for adding product review boxes to your own reviews. We shared several plugins with this feature, so one key differentiator is the looks/styles of the plugin.

Another consideration might be product comparison tables. If you want to add product comparison tables to your reviews, go for WP Review Pro, Ultimate Reviewer, or Reviewer – they all include this functionality.

On the other hand, WP Review Pro also has the ability to import real user reviews from Yelp, Google Places, and Facebook. So if you want to promote your local business by displaying social proof or testimonials from third-party websites, that’s a big thing in WP Review Pro’s favor.

Finally, if you’re specifically looking to collect and display reviews for your WooCommerce store, then you should definitely consider the Customer Reviews for WooCommerce plugin. And if you need to collect reviews for a non-WooCommerce WordPress site, then give the Site Reviews plugin a look.
