5 Best WordPress Review Plugins 2020

Looking for the best WordPress review plugin to enhance product reviews on your website?

Among plenty of smaller features, a good review plugin does two important things:

  • Adds a nice review summary box to the beginning or end of your reviews.
  • Gets you those eye-catching star ratings in Google (aka rich snippets).

If your site is 100% about reviews, you might also be interested in our list of dedicated WordPress review themes.

This post is all about review plugins, though! In it, we’ve collected the best review plugins that can help you create better, more user-friendly reviews. For each plugin, I’ll share:

  • Key features
  • What the review box looks like
  • Pricing information

Let’s dig into the plugins.

1. WP Review Pro

WP Review Pro

WP Review Pro is a popular review plugin from MyThemeShop. It comes in both a limited free version at WordPress.org, as well as a premium version with a lot more functionality.

I’ll mainly focus on the premium version — but you can always give it a test drive at WordPress.org if you want to try before you buy.

Key Features

First off, WP Review Pro helps you display important review details in a box that shows up before, after, or inside your content. The plugin comes with 16 pre-built templates for how these review boxes can look, along with style options to further customize them.

You can choose from different rating systems, including:

  • Star
  • Point
  • Percentage
  • Circle
  • Thumbs

Your review box includes schema markup to help you get the star ratings in Google search results (rich snippets).

Then, WP Review Pro also helps you display reviews from other people in a few different ways. First, you can let other people review a product right on your website by letting users:

  • Rate features
  • Leave a comment on the review
  • Mark other people’s comments as helpful or not helpful (kind of like how product reviews on Amazon work).

Then, WP Review Pro can also help you display third-party reviews from other review sites, including:

  • Yelp
  • Google Places
  • Facebook

For example, you can easily embed real Facebook reviews on your site.

Other helpful features include:

  • Create product comparison tables to compare the features of different products (great for affiliate sites)
  • Promote reviews with a popup or notification bar
  • 10 custom widgets to help you display product reviews in any widget area

On a side note, while WP Review Pro is mainly focused on reviews, it can actually help you add schema markup to get 14 different types of rich snippets. So don’t think of it as just a plugin to help you review products. You can also review recipes, places, and a whole lot more.

What The Review Box Looks Like

Again, WP Review Pro comes with 16 pre-built templates, so there’s no single look. Here’s what the default review box template looks like (you can also see some of the widgets on the side):

And here’s what the Facebook-inspired review template looks like with thumb ratings:

Again, there’s a limited free version at WordPress.org that’s fine for simple reviews. But if you want access to all the templates and functionality (including all of the user review features), you’ll definitely want the Pro version.

The Pro version costs $67 for a single site license and ranges up to $97 for an unlimited site license.

2. Ultimate Reviewer

Ultimate Reviewer

Ultimate Reviewer is a premium WordPress review plugin at CodeCanyon. It comes from an Envato Power Elite Author who’s created themes with thousands of sales.

One of the unique things about this plugin is that you can build your own custom review templates using the plugin’s integration with the Elementor and WPBakery Page Builder plugins. Or, you can also choose from a range of pre-made templates.

Key Features

Like WP Review Pro, Ultimate Reviewer helps you both display your own reviews and also collect/display user reviews. It will also help you add schema markup to get the Google review rich snippets.

When you create your own review, you’ll get an admin meta box that lets you input the various ratings, summaries, pros/cons, etc.

Then, you can also customize the user review template, like choosing which criteria users can rate and whether or not to let other users vote reviews up or down (again, this is like Amazon’s “Helpful” functionality).

Ultimate Reviewer can also help you create product comparison tables to compare different products.

Beyond that, you get widgets to help you display reviews.

What The Review Box Looks Like

As I mentioned above, Ultimate Reviewer works with both Elementor and WPBakery Page Builder to help you build your own custom review templates.

However, it also comes with its own pre-built templates. Here are two examples of the pre-built templates.

First, there’s the simple bar graph/star-rating template:

For a more unique look, there’s also this template with a nice pros/cons section:

Ultimate Reviewer costs $36 with standard Envato licensing.

3. Taqyeem

Taqyeem

Taqyeem is one of the most popular WordPress review plugins at CodeCanyon, where it’s been purchased over 1,700 times. Google tells me that “Taqyeem” means “valuation” in Arabic, in case you’re wondering where the name comes from.

Like the others, you can use Taqyeem to create your own review box, as well as accept product reviews from others.

Key Features

To start, Taqyeem lets you add review boxes with unlimited review criteria. You can also choose from three different review styles:

  • Stars
  • Points
  • Percentages

Taqyeem will also add schema markup to help you get rich snippets in Google.

And if you want, you can open things up to your users and let them rate products, as well.

Taqyeem does not let you add a button to your review boxes in the core plugin. But you can purchase a separate Buttons addon that lets you do that.

What The Review Box Looks Like

Taqyeem gives you full control over colors and review criteria, so you can change up how your review boxes look. But here are some examples of what it looks like out of the box.

One option is this in-content box:

And another option is to use a widget to put your review box in the sidebar like this:

Price

Taqyeem costs $29 with standard Envato licensing. The separate Buttons addon costs $19 on top of that.

4. Reviewer

Reviewer

Reviewer is another popular WordPress review plugin at CodeCanyon. It’s been purchased over 5,600 times and has maintained a stellar 4.61-star rating on over 400 reviews.

It can help you insert both review boxes and comparison tables, as well as giving you the option to accept user reviews.

Key Features

Reviewer helps you create your own review boxes, complete with:

  • Unlimited rating criteria
  • Pros/cons
  • Review summary
  • Overall rating
  • Images
  • Custom links
  • Etc.

You can customize fonts, colors, star icons, etc. And the plugin will also add the backend schema markup that will let you get Google rich snippets.

If you want, you can also let users leave their own reviews/ratings in the comments and incorporate those ratings into your review box.

Beyond that, Reviewer can also help you create product comparison tables, and it also comes with pre-made widgets for both your own reviews and user reviews.

5. WP Product Review

WP Product Review

WP Product Review is a free review plugin with basic functionality. It turns your posts into product reviews by adding an extra ‘Is this post a review?’ checkbox to the WordPress post editor.

Key Features

WP Product Review helps you create a custom product review box complete with:

  • Review summary
  • Ratings
  • Pros/cons
  • Buy now button
  • Images
  • Etc.

The review box also adds the proper schema markup to get you Google rich snippets.

If you want, you can enable user ratings and let users leave their own reviews when posting a comment.

WP Product Review also comes with its own custom widgets to help you feature your latest/greatest reviews in any widget area.

What The Review Box Looks Like

Even though WP Product Review doesn’t come with any pre-made templates, you get access to plenty of options for customizing the styling the information that shows up, such as the colors, typography, comment rating style, and more.

Here is an example of what you can create:

What’s The Best WordPress Review Plugin?

Now for the big question — which one of those review plugins is right for you?

Well, let’s start with what’s the same. All of these plugins give you functionality for:

  • Review boxes
  • Google rich snippets
  • User ratings

So if that’s all you want, I’d say pick the plugin that has your preferred looks/styling.

However, if you want to add product comparison tables to your reviews, go for WP Review Pro, Ultimate Reviewer, or Reviewer that all include this functionality.

Plus, WP Review Pro also has the ability to import real reviews from Yelp, Google Places, and Facebook. So if you want that functionality, that’s a big thing in WP Review Pro’s favor.
